Our mission

We provide all tyre manufacturers and importers with an innovative platform to meet their legal obligations.

We ensure compliance with all relevant legal obligations of our participants. By its general trustworthiness and emphasis on cost-effectiveness and sustainability of operations, we deepen mutually beneficial cooperation between producers, municipalities, processors, dealers and other stakeholders involved in waste tire management.

We are part of the European Tyre and Rubber Manufacturers Association ETRMA https://www.etrma.org/ THE EUROPEAN TYRE & RUBBER and MANUFACTURERS' ASSOCIATION, Slovak Chamber of Commerce and Industry - Waste Management Section.

Eltma will be managed transparently and in accordance with the principle of non-discrimination.

Method of operation collective system and recycling

Eltma, as an authorised collective system, organises the collection and processing of tyres. Funding is provided by a participation fee. The collection and disposal is in the hands of our processors, who are selected following a tender procedure. Tyres are collected at individual collection points and taken away for processing. Waste tyres can be used for energy recovery. The tyre energy recovery plant must be licensed by the CIEP, which also carries out control and monitoring of combustion and emissions.

Material recovery is preceded by the separation of steel cords, textiles and  rubber granulate. Steel cords are further used in the metallurgical industry, textiles for example in insulation boards. Rubber granulate is used to produce surfaces for industry, riding stables, damping pads for railways, replacements for metal hatches and other products.

Legislation

Act No. 79/2015 Coll. on Waste regulates the competence of state administration bodies and municipalities, the rights and obligations of legal entities and natural persons in the prevention of waste and waste management, liability for breach of waste management obligations and the establishment of the Recycling Fund. The subject matter of the Act includes programme documents in waste management, measures to prevent waste, rights and obligations of legal entities and natural persons in waste prevention and waste management, extended producer responsibility, management of reserved products and waste streams.

The activities of the OZV are regulated by § 28, the obligations of the tyre manufacturer by § 70, the obligations of the distributor by § 71. All applicable legislation can be found at www.mzp.cz/cz/pneumatiky.
